NISEKO WINE CELLARS
Conveniently located in the J-Sekka Building on the main corner of Hirafu Niseko Cellars is really the only choice in the Niseko area for quality wines. Over the years the selection has evolved from primarily Australian wines to include an improving selection of French, Italian and New Zealand wines. At the front end of the store is a small seating area for sipping wine aprés ski. The wine collection along the left side of the room all the way to the back. Near the front are the chilled whites and sparkling wines sitting in cool showcases. As one moves towards the back of the store sections of wines shelves are organized by geographic origin. French and Italian wines are located towards the back while New World wines were near the front The organization is sensible and the overall retail experience was a pleasure. It is a huge positive to have the person who selected the wines in the store to advise on tasting profiles. This is clearly one of the strengths of this store and Mick is the man making it happen. We had multiple wines recommended and all hit the mark for our discerning palates. The same cannot be said of any other wine related store in the village and this is the main reason for making Niseko Wine Cellars the Best Wine Store Niseko.
Rare vintages along with organic and biodynamic wine selections can also be found within the overall collection. Better still is the inclusion of properly aged wines in the mix for those preferring the their wines to include some evolved tertiary flavors. An Alain Graillot Crozes Hermitage was found in the prime of its life one fine day in February and made for a wonderful match with slow cooked beef stew.
