NISEKO ACCOMODATION GUIDE

There is an ever increasing variety of accommodation on offer to visitors in Niseko.   Accommodation options include apartments, condominiums, chalets, hotels, hostels, bubble hotels, ryokan and pensions.  Travelers wishing to experience either Western or Asian style hospitality and service will have no problem meeting their needs.   The first step in choosing the right accommodation is to decide which of the five ski areas in Niseko one wishes to spend most of your time in.  Each option comes with a set of advantages and disadvantages depending on the traveller’s needs and wishes.  We will try to sort out the choices and match them with the type of traveller most likely to benefit from each option in the following Niseko Accommodation Guide .

Grand Hifaru is the most popular village as it is not only central to Niseko geographically but it also has the most restaurants, shops and services.  Staying in Hirafu means easy access to all areas of Niseko by either shuttle bus, taxi or skiing.  Aprés ski one can easily walk to shops, restaurants, bars or services like massage and sports therapy.  Most people choose to stay in Hirafu for all of the above reasons.  Being the most popular also means Hirafu is the busiest area in Niseko.  It is truly an international village so if mixing and mingling with many foreigners – mostly Australian and Chinese tourists during winter – is your thing than Hirafu is the best choice.  For those looking to experience more of the natural beauty of Niseko with more space and less people then some of the other villages listed below will be a better choice.  Keep in mind that skiing access to other villages is easy – just take the gondola to the top of the mountain and you can choose which a course that leads to the village of your choice.

Annupuri Village is a great choice for those looking for quiet, less people, wider spaces and a more Japanese experience.  The Niseko Northern Resort at the base of the ski hill, luxury chalets and affordable pensions are all available to fit your needs.  Dining options are fewer but high in quality including three of Niseko’s best restaurants and takeout- Del Sole Pizzeria, Eff Eff German Sausage and Sobatei Rakuichi are all located in Annupuri.  White birch trees frame the small communities dotting the lower landscape with full views of both Mount Yotei and Mount Konbu available on a clear day.  Annupuri Village is perhaps the best choice for privacy, luxury and natural beauty.

Niseko Village is the second most popular Niseko accommodation choice as it is anchored by global chains Hilton Hotel and Green Leaf Hotel – both operated by YTL in Niseko.  Although smaller in area the traveller has plenty of options for dining, ski-in ski-out access, beautiful views, rentals and 2 of the best onsens in Niseko.  In the summer the Hilton Hotel offers an Arnold Palmer designed golf course which doubles as a gorgeous X-country course in the winter.  In 2015 a new project sitting between the 2 hotels was completed – Niseko Village Shops which was designed to look like a Kyoto-style shopping street.  Niseko Village is ideal for the conservative global traveller wanting to stay in an all-inclusive hotel.

Moiwa Village was linked to the other Annupuri ski runs for the first time in 2015 making it fully accessible by ski, bus or taxi.  Located on the outer edge of Niseko it offers lower traffic, more privacy and great value.  One Niseko Resort Towers and bubble hotel Moiwa Lodge 834 offer great value and interesting design for travelers. Moiwa is newer and smaller than other villages but has great onsens, natural beauty and perhaps the best value for Niseko Accommodation.

Hanazono Village is also relatively new with exciting projects being added on a yearly basis.  Clearly designed with the traveling family in mind it offers the greatest variety of year-round activities in Niseko. 2015 brought the opening of the heralded L’Aspereges Restaurant – offering on of Niseko’s finest dining experiences.  For visitors with family in tow the Hanazono Village is one of the top choices in Niseko.[/td_block_text_with_title]
